Highlights

Mandala Wines covers two properties in the rolling hills of the Yarra Valley in regional Victoria. The Yarra Junction vineyard was selected for its high altitude, which offers great character to the exclusive Pinot Noir vines. The Dixons Creek vineyard harvests Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Merlot, across a 104-acre panorama of vines, dams, kangaroos and tranquillity.

Our vines are hand-pruned, hand-harvested and low yield. When weather and vintage follow the absolute desire of the grapes, we are able to make exceptional single site wines that showcase what the vineyards are capable of, such as:

‘The Compass’ Chardonnay from Dixons Creek, single site - vintages 2012, 2013
‘The Prophet’ Pinot Noir from Yarra Junction, single site - vintages 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013
‘The Black Lab’ Pinot Noir from Yarra Junction, single site - vintages 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013
‘The Butterfly’ Cabernet Sauvignon from Dixons Creek, single site - vintages 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013
‘The Rock’ Shiraz from Dixons Creek, single site - vintages 2010, 2012, 2013
‘The Matriarch’ Pinot Noir from Yarra Junction, single site - vintages 2010, 2012, 2013

Our Yarra Junction vineyard is home to 10 acres of 'Burgundian clone' Pinot Noir vines that we planted on a North-facing slope in 1999. This particular slice of the Yarra Valley map has a colder climate and records greater rainfalls. The clay loam and volcanic mix soil contributes to the exceptional Pinot Noir growing conditions.

The Dixons Creek vineyard is Mandala's home; the vines carve through rolling hills of this elevated picturesque Yarra Valley landscape around dams, fruit trees, a family home as well as the Mandala Cellar Door and DiVino Ristorante. The Dixons Creek vineyard has a clay loam soil and houses 25-year-old Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Merlot vines.

Description

MANDALA DREAMS
Mandala has been a dream in our family for generations. We always wanted a place to grow grapes, make our own wine and share it with friends and family. So it really was a dream come true when we planted our first ten acres of Pinot Noir rootlings in the Yarra Junction site in 1999. Fast forward some very fruitful seven years and we were ready to expand. But it was Nanna who sent the dream to mum one mysterious night: a vision of the rolling hills, the dams, the vines and a place to sit at the end of the day taking in an endless view. Just one year on, the time was right and another dream became a reality. We moved into Dixons Creek, and together with the Yarra Junction vineyard, came full circle to create Mandala as we love it today.

AS YARRA VALLEY AS IT GETS

Our favourite wines lead us to the Yarra Valley region; Charles' love of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay made it the perfect choice. The Yarra Valley is famous for its sublime cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but our vineyards also have established Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot vines too. With our sites only an hour from Melbourne, it really was the best place to unearth Mandala and make the wines we like to drink.Today Mandala is thriving within its beautiful atypical Australian country setting, where our kids play and older ones spend time together, tell stories and enjoy the good life.We want Mandala to be our legacy for the future generations, and to be indulged by whomever catches the wine bug - our place is your place.Take the trip, bring the family and friends. Just relax, we'll look after the rest.
